Kia Recalls Sedona Minivans

Comments Off

Thousands of Sedona minivans have been recalled by Kia to fix a part of the suspension that can corrode and lead to breakage over time.

An estimated 80,000 Sedona vehicles from the 2006 to 2012 model years are affected by the recall, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The front lower control arm of the suspension can corrode and break after prolonged exposure to road salt that is used to melt snow and ice.

To this date, according to the NHTSA, no injuries or accidents have been reported in conjunction with this recall. But there has been twenty-six complaints reported.

Twenty states are affected by the recall. Kia is expected to start notifying owners in early December. Dealers will inspect the vehicles and rustproof the relevant parts and replace them if necessary – at no cost to the owners.

Consumers that own one of the affected Kia vehicles and have questions about the recall in the meantime, are urged to contact Kia directly at 800-333-4542 and reference recall SC100. Or, alternatively, the NHTSA can be reached at 888-327-4236 and inquire about campaign #13V550000.
