Dog Food Recalled In Nine States Including Nevada

PetSmart Stores is issuing a pet food recall in nine states and Nevada is on the list according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Blue Buffalo Company is voluntarily recalling Wilderness Wild Chews Bones (cub size) because the dog food has the potential be contaminated with Salmonella.

The affected product was distributed on November 19, 2015 in Pet food stores located in: California, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington. The UPC number is 840243110087 and carries an expiration date of November 4, 2017.

Consumers that have this dog food in the house should check the packaging to determine if the food is tainted and included in the recall. If it is, consumers are urged to dispose of the product or return it to the place of purchase to receive a refund.

Salmonella can affect animals that consume the tainted product, but there is also a health risk to humans from handling contaminated products. It is important to thoroughly wash your hands with hot, soapy water after having contact with the products or any surfaces that were exposed to these contaminated products.

• Decreased Appetite
• Fever
• Other symptoms include lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea.

Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect humans and other pets.
